The Lynnwood Reformed Church is a faith community united from many different faith backgrounds. As a congregation of 450 current active members, we believe we have been called to worship God, to minister to one another, to love and serve others and proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in our community and to the World.

The Reformed Church in America is a Protestant church in the Presbyterian/Reformed tradition. It is the oldest Protestant denomination with a continuous history in the United States.

Worship

Sunday Morning - 9:45 AM     (July - Labor Day - 9:00 AM)

Child care provided in two nurseries:

  • UPSTAIRS - Ages 3 through first grade
  • DOWNSTAIRS - Infants through age 3

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated monthly, usually on the first Sunday of the month.  Communion is also celebrated on Maundy Thursday.

Our service of worship is followed by a "Coffee Break", an important time when friendships form and grow through conversation and time spent together.


Christian Education

Church School Sunday mornings, 11 AM - Noon, Age 3 through adult.

Visitors and newcomers are always welcome!

An adult class for newcomers is taught by the pastor as needed.

A confirmation class for young people is held once a year.

Focus Groups are formed and Bible study offered periodically.


Youth Ministries

Lynnwood offers three youth programs that meet regularly throughout the school year for fun, fellowship, learning, and service.

Kids for Christ Youth Group, grades 4 and 5, meets the third Sunday of each month, 4 - 5:30 PM.

Junior Youth Group, for young people in grades 6-8, meets the first and third Sundays of each month, 6:30 - 8:00 PM.

Senior Youth Group, for high school youth, meets on Sunday evenings 6:30 - 8:00 PM.


Music Ministry

Senior Choir meets Wednesday evenings, 7:30 - 9 PM (September - June). Newcomers are always invited and additional singers are welcomed for the special music of Christmas and Easter.

Kinderchoir, pre-K through 2nd grade, sings every Sunday as part of the church school experience. This group sings at several worship services throughout the year.

Senior High Youth Band, plays at the worship service on the third Sunday of each month.

Adult Ministries

Women's

The Lynnwood Women's organization provides 1) opportunities designed to deepen spiritual life, 2) programs that offer hands-on missional projects as well as "giving" opportunities, 3) fellowship through shared time together, and 4) programs of an inspirational and educational nature.  These activities are open to all people in our church and community.

Three additional, separate women's groups meet monthly (except July and August) for study and fellowship. Meetings are generally held at the church. Visitors and new members are always welcome:

Joyful Noise Circle - meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month, 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM. Little ones are welcome to accompany mom (hence the name "Joyful Noise").

Friendship Circle - meets at noon (with a bag lunch) on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Thursday Evening Circle - meets at 7:30 on the 3rd Thursday evening of the month.

The annual Fall Fanfare Bazaar, sponsored by the women, is held in October, generally on the last Saturday.

Men's

A Men's Group meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month (except July & August) for breakfast, fellowship and study.  Newcomers are always welcome! Meetings are generally at the church, although the group occasionally dines out.


Mission Programs

The Lynnwood Reformed Church supports the following mission programs:

  • Support for Reformed Church in America missionary families Overseas.
  • Guilderland and Schenectady Food Pantries
  • Many special projects in support of world hunger, battered women, children of prisoners, disaster relief, Adopt-A-Highway, City Mission of Schenectady, Schenectady Inner City Ministry, Guilderland Center Nursing Home, etc.
